Our planet. http://www.sfenvironment.org About Green Depot - Santa MonicaGreen Depot began in Santa Monica, California in 2004, and is a non-profit public benefit corporation which has been established to facilitate more sensible and responsible use of our natural resources through increased awareness, education and implementation of biomass fuels such as biodiesel, and other sustainable forms of energy, products and services. Green Depot is focusing our efforts in California where we have been working to inform and educate municipalities, businesses, distributors and consumers about biodiesel and other forms of sustainable energy. Biodiesel is not only a non-toxic and biodegradable alternative to petroleum diesel, but also a truly sustainable fuel that is available today. Our current priority is the establishment of Sustainable Energy Community Resource Centers which will function as educational centers as well as biodiesel distribution stations. Once the first Green Depot is operational, our goal is to replicate it throughout the California and the South West region. In an effort to maintain compliance and ensure success for this project it is important for us to coordinate our work with governmental and municipal agencies. One example of this are the California Department of Food & Agriculture, Division of Measurement Standards regulations that state that biodiesel can only be sold to the general public through a membership organization which will collect census data to help define a future ASTM fuel specification for neat biodiesel. In order to comply with these regulations we have received a variance from the DMS to operate such an organization which we call the Green Depot Club. To join the club or access the members area click here. We are actively soliciting and encouraging greater participation from governmental agencies and individual policy makers to help us achieve our goals. Initial support for this project has been strong, and include members of the entertainment, scientific, medical, municipal, petroleum, financial, business and automotive communities who have expressed strong interest in being involved in this progressive and sustainable energy project.
